Dr. Tharsi Sarvananthan is an accomplished Consultant Radiologist specialising in breast imaging, with a distinguished academic and clinical background.

 

Education & Early Career

Dr. Sarvananthan graduated from Imperial College London in 2008 with distinction honours and a First-Class BSc degree. She commenced her NHS career in academic surgical training, undertaking the prestigious Darzi Fellowship before transitioning to Radiology. She has been practising in the field of Radiology since 2011 specialising in Breast Radiology having completed a Fellowship at Northwick Park Hospital and NLBSS services.

 

Clinical Expertise

Currently based at Frimley Park Hospital and SHB Medical Imaging, Dr. Sarvananthan is an accomplished breast radiologist as well as offering services in general radiology. She performs routine one-stop breast clinics and a range of interventional breast procedures, including:

· Ultrasound-guided biopsies/aspiration of cysts and FNA of lesions

· Stereotactic biopsies

· Vacuum-assisted biopsies

· Insertion of guidewires and markers/magseeds under imaging control

 

She also actively participates in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, contributing to comprehensive patient care.

 

Research & Contributions

Dr. Sarvananthan has a special interest in research, particularly in the role of Contrast-Enhanced Spectral Mammography (CESM) in breast imaging. She has presented multiple abstracts at national and international conferences and was a previous committee member of the British Society of Breast Radiologists (BSBR).She is also one of the contributors to the Royal College of Radiologists’ “Guidance on Screening and Symptomatic Breast Imaging,” Fourth Edition written by the BSBR committee members.

 

Private PracticeIn addition to her NHS role, Dr. Sarvananthan offers private consultations through SHB Medical Imaging, Parkside Frimley and Genesis Windsor. Dr. Sarvananthan was instrumental in establishing the one-stop breast imaging service at GenesisCare Windsor. This service offers rapid access to comprehensive breast diagnostics, including same-day imaging. She provides high-quality breast imaging services combining clinical excellence with commitment to patient centred care.
