Dr Pippa Skippage

Pippa Skippage started work as a Consultant Radiologist in January 2010. Her primary area of interest is Breast Imaging with her current post including sessions at both Frimley Park Hospital & The Jarvis Breast Screening Unit. She undertook her Radiology training based at St George's Hospital in South West London which culminated in a Final Year Fellowship in Breast Imaging covering symptomatic and screening services. During her last year of training she also trained with Consultant Radiologists at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in central London, becoming proficient in reporting body MRI with a particular interest in Gynaecological imaging.

 

She is proficient in all methods of breast imaging including reading mammograms, performing and interpreting breast and axillary ultrasound and Breast MRI. As well as seeing and assessing patients with breast symptoms, she works as part of the NHS Breast Screening Programme and is therefore qualified to interpret screening mammograms. Her roles at both centres also includes the assessment of ladies deemed at high risk of developing breast cancer and she is able to advise on the more intensive screening programmes that such ladies may require.

 

Her skills including performing fine needle aspirations and core biopsies using both ultrasound and mammographic guidance. She also undertakes localisation procedures for patients due to undergo surgery.

 

As part of the Frimley Park team she has good working relations with the other members of the multidisciplinary team including Breast Surgeons and Oncologists.

 

She also provides imaging services for the Gynaecology team, performing US imaging as well as interpreting CT or MRI images that may be required as part of further diagnostic workup.

 

As well as these specialist areas of interest, she also reports and performs general Radiological investigations imaging including plain films, ultrasound, CT and MRI.
